Folk Alley Presents: The Cactus Blossoms

Minneapolis brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum say they "wandered into the world of music on accident and on purpose at the same time." They got their start singing around campfires, and around friends who encouraged them to start playing out. Eventually, they graduated to the dive bars of Minneapolis, and from there they landed an opportunity to open for JD McPherson, who produced The Cactus Blossoms' new album, You're Dreaming.

In January, the Folk Alley and Beehive Productions crews caught up with The Cactus Blossoms for an early-morning session in a remote studio at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Walton County, Fla. Here, they perform "Powder Blue," a slow, lazy love song — written by Burkum — that sounds like it could have come straight out of the Everly Brothers catalog.
