The Executive Director of Downtown Springfield Incorporated is stepping down at the end of this month. Lisa Clemmons Stott has spent more than five years with the organization and has been a voice for the area during that time. There was no reason given for her decision.
Among her accomplishments are obtaining a national grant for the Levitt AMP concert series and bringing other new events to downtown. In a news release, Clemmons Stott said it’s time to pursue other professional paths.
“I came to DSI with a strong mandate to strengthen the organization so that we could turn ‘potential’ into ‘reality’ and be the strongest voice possible for downtown businesses,” said Clemmons Stott. “I am extremely proud of the work we’ve accomplished together during my tenure, which includes months with some of the worst conditions for businesses in a century. DSI has amazing talent on the board and staff leadership team coupled with a strong, post-pandemic vision plan that we have been executing with the City and other partners."
"I’ve given this position my all and this felt like the right time for me to explore new professional paths. I am still very passionate about downtown and Springfield. My decision is not a reflection on DSI or the future of downtown,” she continued. “I will continue to find ways to give back, just like the hundreds of volunteers working right now who love downtown and understand its value as much as I do.”
The DSI Board President Brian Wojcicki said a search to fill the leadership position will start soon. “We extend a heartfelt thank you for the time, energy, and vision Lisa provided to DSI and our downtown. We wish Lisa all the best and look forward to continuing the momentum she helped turn into reality.”
Clemmons Stott was previously the Development Director at NPR Illinois.
