Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin and The Guilty Ones Bedrock 66 Live Sunday, October 11

Sean Burns spoke to Dave Alvin from the road about his and brother Phil's new record, their musical influences and their upcoming appearance in Springfield as part of the Bedrock 66 Live! concert series.

Three years ago Blasters founder Phil Alvin's heart stopped in a hospital in Spain from complications associated with a tooth infection. Brother Dave received a call that Phil was dead and then 45 minutes later he received another. Phil had been revived. Fast forward three years and the brothers Alvin, who hadn't recorded together in almost 30 years, released this month their second lp in as many years , Lost Time, the follow up to 2014's Grammy nominated Common Ground: The Songs of Big Bill Broonzy.  Both records are a labor of love, not only brotherly love but, love for the blues, their mentors and American music.

The Alvin brothers reunion tour stops in Springfield, Sunday, October 11 at 7:30 pm at Casey's Pub, 2200 Meadowbrook Road on Springfield's west side. Part of the WUIS' Bedrock 66 Live! concert series. Joining Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin and the Guilty Ones is LA based Dead Rock West.
