Proposed Approach to Honoring and Engaging Former Board Members (Agenda Attachment 1) for Approval September 7, 2018
The NPR Illinois Community Advisory Board (CAB) intends to honor and engage former advisory board members who honorably served. Following is a proposed approach.
Membership Classifications
- Active Members: Currently serving CAB members
- Emeritus Members: All former members who honorably served, remain active supporters of NPR Illinois and choose to accept emeritus status
- Legacy Members: All former members who honorably served and are deceased
Expectations of Emeritus Members
- Remain financial supporters of NPR Illinois
- Continue to serve as ambassadors for the organization by raising awareness of its content, programs and civic engagement activities and value to the statewide audience
- Provide input to NPR Illinois and CAB regarding 1) NPR Illinois’ effectiveness and 2) opportunities for improvement, including partnerships or other activities to enhance mission effectiveness
Opportunities for Engagement of Emeritus Members
- Attend CAB’s annual meeting in July
- Attend all NPR Illinois events
- Volunteer, including during pledge drives
- Serve as business sponsors or other type of sponsor
- Customize a planned gift to NPR Illinois
- Serve as ex officio members to the NPR Illinois board and future committees, as formed
- Submit story ideas for NPR Illinois at any time
