SJ-R.com

Sean Crawford talks with Tim Landis, Business Editor for the State Journal-Register.

This week:

* Student outmigration: A study by the Illinois Board of Higher Education showed Illinois losing students long before the two-year budget deadlock, which appears to have only made things worse.

* Grain Belt Express: Big power line proposed for wind energy from Kansas to Indiana via Springfield area appears to be in trouble after state Supreme Court ruled similar Rock Island project by same developer failed to qualify as a public utility; meaning no permit.

* Edgar's Coffee House in Chatham; closed over the weekend was a new coffee-house, bookstore concept for Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries that just didn't draw enough traffic despite the high visibility spot; no immediate plans for the space.
