Sean Crawford talks with the State Journal-Register Business Editor Tim Landis:

This week:

Illinois State Fair - Attendance down, which was no big surprise, but the question lingers every year about "how" the fair goes about counting folks; current administration has settled on ticket sales and use of an industry formula based on census and veterans data.

Kmart closing - Wabash Avenue store shutting down mid-December, one of 17 the company is closing.  Until 2003, the city had 3 Kmarts...Wabash, MacArthur Boulevard and Clear Lake Avenue. Only Clear Lake will remain.

Q5 - Chamber economic-development campaign about to begin its third five-year phase. Downtown housing a big focus.

Habitat ReStore - Retail operation of Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County finished with opening of covered drop-off facility; they say donations and sales volume are up, helping off set donation losses attributed to state budget problems.
