'Born Under A Bad Sign' Showcases Grab-A-Java Art

Flyer for Friday's show.

You may not know his name but if you live in Springfield, you're probably familiar with his art. Peter Lazare is co-owner of Grab-A-Java coffee shop with his wife Meg. Over the years, the ever-changing punny banners at the 6th street location in Springfield have attracted customers, praise and criticism.

They often feature a coffee-inspired play on words such as "One Brew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Where the Wild Drinks Are." When the subject of the banners veer into politics and current events, Meg assures they are never are too controversial but he says he's just "trying to get noticed."

On Friday, from 5 - 9:30 PM at Arlington's on Broadway, some of Peter's banners will be on display at the "Born Under A Bad Sign" Grab-A-Java art show. Attendees will be able to get an up-close and personal view of the banners that have become a Springfield landmark.
