Business Report: The Mill On Rt. 66 To Re-Open; Gander Mountain Closing; Pawnee Power Plant

Mill66.com

Sean Crawford talks with State Journal-Register Business Editor Tim Landis.

This week:

* Pawnee power plant- Houston company, EmberClear Corp., wants to build a $1 billion, natural-gas power plant near Pawnee; but about two years worth of local, state and federal regulatory approval needed, PLUS financing.

* Route 66 -  The Mill on Route 66 in Lincoln is scheduled to open April 29, joining Joliet, Pontiac, Bloomington-Normal and Litchfield with Route 66 museums. The only exception of any size, Springfield.

* Goodwill Industries vet program - Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries added a focus on vets last fall, helping them prepare for job interviews, etc.. Already 100 in the program and growing, about 40 percent have found jobs.

*  Gander Mountain  - The latest retail closing for Springfield;  Gander Mountain closing several locations nationwide, including the store at Prairie Crossing, north of Meijer. The number of retail closings in recent weeks has become a real concern for the effect on sales-tax revenue, that was already down.
