Farm Bureau Talks About Campaign Against Federal Water Regulations

Illinois Farm Bureau

Illinois Business and Farm groups are trying to fight off some new federal water regulations.  The groups claim the regulations will be an over-reach onto farmers private property.   The proposed rules would extend regulations streams and wetlands on farms that connect to other water sources. Although the farm groups fear a tougher interpretation by the Feds and say  the regulations will  end up creating regulatory hurdles for drainage ditches and temporary ponds.     Lauren Lurkins is the Illinois Farm Bureau's Director of Natural and Environmental Resources.  She spoke with Bill Wheelhouse about the group's efforts to lobby against the proposed rules:

Bill is a former general manager, economy reporter, Harvest correspondent and Statehouse Bureau Chief for NPR Illinois. He has won several awards including the Associated Press Best Investigative Reporter.
