Stories of Survival: Memory Keepers -- Preserving Our Treasures and Creating their Stories

Stories of Survival: Memory Keepers -- Preserving Our Treasures and Creating their Stories

In conjunction with our exhibit, "Stories of Survival: Object. Image. Memory." you are invited to join ALPLM Historical Documents Conservator Bonnie Parr and Master Story Teller Susan Stone for a special evening on Thursday, November 10 from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the ALPLM Library Multi-Purpose Room.

Objects and artifacts we have gathered on our life journeys are scattered throughout our homes. Some of them have great value only because of the emotional investment we have in them.

During the first half of the program, Bonnie will talk about what factors to consider in providing good storage and display conditions, explain what “archival” means when choosing materials for enclosures, and offer tips on proper handling.

Afterwards, Susan will invite you to share your objects, (real or a photograph) and the stories they evoke. Come prepared to participate in storytelling activities. Who owned it? Where was it found? Why is it so important? Everyone and every object has a tale to tell. We will all write a personal narrative story to take home.

Please bring your important object or a photograph of it. This workshop is free and is for an adult audience.
