Sangamon County Historical Society Program

The migration pattern of monarch butterflies along Route 66 and a new site to promote the road's rich history will be discussed by organizers of the project at the site on the fairgrounds just west of Peoria Road and north of Gate 2. The site includes raised beds of native Illinois pollinator plants. Speakers include Susan Helm of Route 66 Flyaway Group, Stephanie Dobbs of Illinois Department of Transportation, representatives of Ace Sign Co., Casey Claypool of Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway, and Sarah Waggoner of Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.
