For the People Speaker Series: An Evening with Christopher Jackson

For the People Speaker Series: An Evening with Christopher Jackson

Christopher Jackson is best known as the Tony nominated actor and Emmy and Grammy winning songwriter/composer who portrayed President George Washington in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton and Chester "Chunk" Palmer on the CBS-TV hit drama Bull.

But did you know Christopher Jackson was born in Metropolis, Illinois and grew up in Cairo, Illinois?

Much like the stories told in our exhibit, Here I Have Lived: Home in Illinois, “home” is more than a structure for Christopher Jackson. It’s a feeling of belonging and finding a sense of self and community.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is proud to welcome Christopher Jackson as our next “For the People” guest speaker on Monday, November 6, 2023. Fellow Cairoite and former NPR Radio National Health Correspondent Rachel Jones will join Christopher on stage to moderate a wide ranging conversation that will share how that sense of home in Cairo helped to foster and encourage his talents that would ultimately lead to fame and accolades on Broadway and in Hollywood.

This is a free program, but advance registration is required. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Program begins at 7:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to visit the home exhibit before the program begins.
