Still Rockin': New Fans Flock to Wanda Jackson

Once called "the female Elvis," rockabilly pioneer Wanda Jackson is finding a new following among young Hispanics who love 1950s culture and music.

The 67-year-old queen of rockabilly recently stopped in Los Angeles to play a show and speak to NPR's Madeleine Brand.

Madeleine Brand
Madeleine Brand is the host of NPR’s newest and fastest-growing daily show, Day to Day. She conducts interviews with newsmakers (Iraqi politicians, US senators), entertainment figures (Bernardo Bertolluci, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ricky Gervais), and the everyday people affected by the news (an autoworker laid off at GM, a mother whose son was killed in Iraq).
