A brand new concept for Springfield kicks off in the Enos Park neighborhood. Terrainis a bi-annual art tradition that started in Chicago.
Jeff Robinsonand Allison Lacher were instrumental in getting artists from as far away as London to show their works on the properties of 17 residencies. "Rather than people having to go to a gallery setting to engage with contemporary art - the work is brought into neighborhoods so that merely driving down the street or walking down the sidewalk you're going to encounter this work," says Robinson. Lacher says the community has been enthusiastic about the ambitious idea. "I think the conversation of public art is an important one for Springfield right now ... come see the conversation we're having about public art and what that could mean for Springfield."
