Democrats are going it alone on the budget and the bills are flying. How can you keep track of all the budget legislation out there? By using this handy list.
After maintaining a blog on the day-to-day happenings at the Statehouse for a few years, I noticed that many readers seemed to find a hyperlinked list of budget bills useful.
Roll call votes are also linked by chamber. I will update through the week if needed. If I missed anything, let me know in the comments, and I will add it.
Update: Just because all but one of these bills have been approved by both chambers, that doesn't mean they are headed to Gov. Bruce Rauner's desk right away. Senate President John Cullerton has filed a motion on the House bills approved in the Senate which essentially freezes the process until he removes it. House Speaker Michael Madigan and Chicago Democratic Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie are doing the same to Senate budget bills as they pass through the House.
Cullerton used the tactic to keep a gambling expansion bill from going to then-Gov. Pat Quinn's desk because it seemed likely he would veto it. Supporters had hoped to persuade the governor, but he followed through on his veto threat when the legislation was finally released to him in 2013. For more on the situation with the budget bills, see this enlightening story from WUIS' Statehouse Bureau Chief Amanda Vinicky.
