Voters in the general election will be asked to weigh in on a proposed amendment to the state’s Constitution that would protect money set aside for transportation projects. The plan is sometimes referred to as the transportation funding lockbox amendment.
Illinois Issues editor Jamey Dunn talked with a proponent of the amendment, Todd Maisch, president of the Illinois Chamber of commerce, and an opponent, Chicago Democratic Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie.
You can find a pamphlet with basic information on the amendment here. This document was mailed to voters by the Illinois secretary of state's office. The office sends out such documents whenever a proposed constitutional amendment appears on the ballot.
