Flooding Update From IEMA

Flooding in Southern Illinois

Flooding from spring storms started over a week ago and put much of the state on alert. On the other side of the Mississippi River, some homes and buildings in eastern Missouri have been submerged and five people died. 

Illinois hasn't seen as dire of a situation, but the state's emergency management agency, IEMA, is still at work assessing, repairing and preventing damage. We spoke with the communication manager for the organization, Patti Thompson, about the situation now and mitigation efforts:
